On 13th August, we had a photoshoot in the photography studio. The photos were taken by Mr. Charles (photographer of the day) -  thank you so much, sir! The photos have been edited by Yanlin. 

The Characters of Overdose

THE CHARACTERS

Zoe - Serra: One of the main protagonists of Overdose. A socially awkward 18-years-old woman living in a world that was rapidly going to rot. But harder than these conditions is the fact that her everyday life is plagued with spirits that only she can see. This ability of hers was actually gained unintentionally when she nearly died in a car accident. As a result, she became addicted to the world of virtual gaming and was far less enthusiastic with the state of the real world. One day while surfing through the net in search for upcoming new games, she received a message from an unknown source. The message contained what she thought was the intro of a new dysptopian-sci-fi adventure game when in truth was the events from overdose told from the point of view of the creator of the drug. Interested, Zoe accepted the invitation which lead to the encounter with Ivy. Angry at being tricked, Zoe rejected Ivy's offer of fixing the world, claiming that it's none of her business until Ivy informed her that purifying the toxic contaminating the world will cure her from seeing the spirits. Tempted, Zoe agreed and the two then formed a partnership to rid the world from overdosing.

Ivy - Tia: One of the main protagonists of overdose. An eccentric scientist and an idealist with a heart of gold. Together with her colleague, Suzy, they created a drug that could rid people of their stree, albeit temporarily. After his relative's drug overdose incident, Ivy found out the truth about the drug's ingredient and her colleague's twisted ideal but before Ivy could put a stop to Suzy's plan and revealed the truth to the world, she was killed in a planned bomb explosion. Seeking to correct her mistake and stopping her former friend, Ivy wandered the living world as a spirit, seeking for help. Finally, she encountered Zoe, a girl who can interact with spirits, someone who can finally see her. knowing the girl's nature, she sent the truth of the overdose event in the form of a game intro. After being rejected to cooperate by Zoe, Ivy tricked the girl into allying with her by telling her what she wanted the most: the solution to stop seeing spirits. The two then joined together to save the world.

Ivy's appearance

Suzy - Shu Ling: The main antagonist of overdose. A socialite who cared more about her fame and fortune than the fate of the society. She's someone who will commit any means to achieve what she desire, cutting down anyone who oppose her, even her former colleague, Ivy.

Lea - Imani: Ivy's not-so-successful cousin and her main motive for stopping Suzy's plan and saving the world to prevent anyone from sharing the same fate as her cousin and suffer under her own creation.

Storyline - OVERDOSE (Cannibalism)

We combined our story from Yanlin's and Tia's ideas. Basically, our story is based on cannibalism. The title of this story is OVERDOSE. 

THE STORYLINE

Ivy was a successful scientist who has a not-so-successful relative, Lea who was constantly outshine by Ivy. Due to that, Lea constantly took the ever popular stress-free dream drug (anthrosapien) which was made by Ivy and his colleague, Suzy. In the beginning, the drug was consumed at a moderate amount but as Lea encountered more and more stress in her daily life, the amount of drug she took increases drastically to the point of near lethal. At first, Ivy paid no mind to it and merely thought that her research is actually helping her relative from her stressful life, giving her some peace. But one day, the Lea lost her job, her family (by accident). Overwhelmed with disappointment and her failures, Lea took a lethal dosage of the drug and ended up overdosing. Ivy came home just in time to find her overdose relative. Lea was rushed immediately to the hospital. Ivy managed to survive but she ended up coma. Suspecting there's something within the drug is the cause behind it all, Ivy buried herself into researching its ingredient and found out that the ingredients that her partner, Suzy claimed was in it was not what it appeared to be and there's also something extra within it — human flesh.

Confronting her partner who is now a socialite about the truth, she was horrified to discover that her colleague intend to spread this drug worldwide, claiming that she is merely freeing the world from stress and overpopulation (this was done by killing illegal immigrants, fugitives, runway children and so on, with the reason that since they were the lowest ranking in the human ladder, they can finally be useful by 'donating' their flesh and blood for a 'good cause'). Learning the truth, Ivy confronted her colleague, Suzy. When confronted, Suzy remained nonchalant, having already expected such scenario from her righteous friend. Furious and horrified at her friend's intention, Ivy declared her intention to reveal the truth to the public and marched out of the office. Having planned ahead, Suzy calmly watched on from her computer as Ivy drove away in her car, heading to the news station. Halfway to her destination, the car exploded from a timed bomb planted by Suzy's assistant who did it on behalf of Suzy's order. Having gotten rid of the only person who knows the truth, the drug was sold world wide. More people became addicted to the drug, leading to more than half of the world becoming overdosed with the stress-free drug. The world began falling down the road of decay. Filled with regret of not being able to stop her former colleague, Ivy's spirit was unable to move on and wandered the living world in search of ways to stop Suzy and fixed her mistake. As a spirit, Ivy was unable to interact with the living thus she's invisible to the eyes of living.

Wandering the earth for 34 years, she finally met Zoe, a girl who due to an accident in her childhood that nearly took her life became able to interact with spirits. Ecstatic, Ivy began to investigate Zoe's background and planned her next move to stop Suzy who now lords over half of the world from a seat of power with the stress-free drug. Zoe, a NEET that's apathetic to the living and hopelessly addicted to the Internet received a mysterious game sent to her by an unknown person who was later found out to be Ivy. The so-called game advertisement was actually the truth of the stress-free drug and Suzy's twisted ideal made into the form of a game opening. Intrigued, Zoe accepted the invitation, thinking it was just a game but soon came to regret it when she found out it was no game and was annoyed at the idea of doing something troublesome.

Having already knew Zoe's nature, Ivy tricked the girl into helping by telling her what Zoe wanted: the solution to stop seeing spirits. Taking the bait, Zoe reluctantly joined forces with Ivy to save the world from Suzy and overdosing.

YANLIN'S IDEA

• Anthropology - a success-driven society that leaves no room for failures. The winners are the one who gets to make the choice and survive, failures are the one who get left behind and selected out 
• Ritual - a cult founded by the MC's partner, occassionally using some of the members to test out his new drug and gathered the 'main ingredient'. Made up mainly of unmarried young people with limited employment, living at home with their parents. General lack of a future. 'Parasite singles'.
• Drug - stress-free, dream, human flesh and blood are mixed within. Side effects include aggression, mental degradation, physical deformity, comatose 
• Socialite - MC's partner obsessed with fame and fortune, attending social activities to better promote his drug
• Traumatized - by relative's comatose, a constant reminder that the MC played a part in his coma
• Food - human flesh and blood

Opening his eyes to the truth, the MC resolved to bring his partner down and search for a cure to clean up the drug's toxin that keeps the victim asleep or aggressive.

- Taking drug isn't the solution to solving our problems and failures. It doesn't erase them, it merely helps us look away for a while. Instead, we should live with our failings and continue to work for a better tomorrow.
- The drug saved and release them from every stress of the material world. Free of every failure, every responsibility that's ever chained them down. That this life, with all its disappointments, isn't all there will ever be.
- Suffering like painful memories, is just part of life. Only through remembering and overcoming them that we emerge strong.

TIA'S IDEA

Third Discussion

On 4th of June 2014, we had a group tutorial regards with our six hats. Instead of using colour as our theme, we decided to change our theme to cannibalism. After the tutorial, Mr. Charles asked us to focus on the storyboard and the superhero.

Second Discussion

Before the presentation day, we had discussion (without Shifa) regards with the six hats and our storyboard. It was a little bit hard for us because we did not really know what to do. Fortunately, we managed to complete our six hats.

On Thursday class, we showed our presentation to Mr. Charles during the tutorial session. Unfortunately, he said that our storyboard is something that never happened in mother earth. So, he gave us another chance to change our storyboard and asked us to do it again. This time, our storyboard must relate with something that has happened before. He even asked us to show it to him next time.

First Discussion

While we were in the class, we were brainstorming about our ideas on our assignment (superhero) and relate those ideas with the six thinking hats. The six thinking hats have different colours and personality. The colours are; black (Serra), yellow (Shu Ling), red (Shifa), blue (Wafaa), green (Imani) and white (Tia and Yanlin).
